Students, faculty, and staff needing access to buildings or classrooms are encouraged to first contact their departments or the Registrar’s Office. If, however, neither can provide the necessary keys or codes to open the required doors, Public Safety is available to help. Anyone needing access to any buildings or classrooms should send an email from their College of Charleston email account to dooropeningrequests@cofc.edu. These emails should include:
- The name of the organization / party making the request
- What event is being held
- Times the door(s) should be unlocked
- Times the event will conclude so the doors may be secured again
Faculty with students needing regular access to locked areas may also send a list of students approved for special access rights to dooropeningrequests@cofc.edu to ensure that their students are always permitted entrance to these areas.
Public Safety will not unlock building and classroom doors for unauthorized or unapproved events/people. All groups needing special access should contact Public Safety via a dooropeningrequests@cofc.edu email, but only if their respective departments and the Registrar’s Office are unable to help.
